^^"Ceterum Censo Carthaginem esse delendam"
^^-Cato the elder
With the death of Cato the elder, who always closed his speeches with this sentence, the Romans
decided to make war with Carthage-for the third time.
This time, it was not with the goal to defeat Carthage. It was not supposed to terminate all of
Carthaginian pride. It had the goal to destroy the city!
The Carthaginians where not unmotivated. With well-organized armies, they went to a defensive
war. For the first 2 years, they did well, effectively holding off the Roman invasions on North
Africa. But Scipio the Younger and his friend C. Laelius landed in Africa and attacked the city's
hinterlands, and finally the city itself.

C. Laelius led the attack on Carthage's walls, and not much later, the city fell to plundering Roman
armies. The city was burned to the ground and salt was thrown on the ruins, so the city would
never again be rebuilt.
Can you succesfully hold off the Roman invaders and defend the city? Or will you repeat the
Carthaginian loss and let the Romans destroy the city?

From the beginning on, it was clear that your opponents in the High council wanted to make the
right decision, to surrender.
^
^Not obeying their fears, the Carthaginians decided to defend the city at all costs. It has been a
long, and bloody battle.
^
^But when Gaius Laelius himself led the attack on the walls of the city, it was clear that the Punics
couldn't win. The city was set on fire even before the citie's gates opened.

Congratulations, your military leadership and strategy seems to work well, as your armies manage

unless you edited the Game.txt. In that case, thank you for playing my scenario, but you don't
seem to have any pride at all, as you don't try to manage this scenario without cheating.
^^You could have, of course, also played this scenario in Chieftain mode, or something other than

also have said, that C. Laelius and his close friend, Scipio, are leading the army. It is not clear,
